Microsimulation Modelling

Microsimulation of traffic evolved from the desire of traffic practitioners to clearly and visually convey the operation of a road system under various options and operating conditions. Software tools such as PARAMICS, VISSIM, and AIMSUN can assist greatly in conveying the benefits and disbenefits of various traffic schemes, and assist decision makers in their deliberations.

Today's tools have reached a level of sophistication that enables them to also be used to assess the relative benefits of even very minor design improvements.

Anne Coutts is an experienced and efficient Paramics and VISSIM modeller. She has applied her skills to a number of projects, including:
