Wildlife Corridor Engineering

Wildlife corridors connecting remnant patches of native vegetation increasingly require 'engineered' solutions to assist them to function. In addition to wildlife overpasses and underpasses, a range of less noticeable, but more specific devices may be necessary to facilitate the desired utilisation. Such devices may include:

  • exclusion fencing
  • noise barriers
  • light-proof fencing
  • rest poles
  • one-way gates
  • specifically targeted protection and encouragement devices

Such devices may be particularly useful in very narrow wildlife corridors or long corridors through built-up or highly cleared areas.
